Performance
The M4 is noticeably faster in multi-core tasks such as video export and large Xcode builds, and it ships with 16GB unified memory as standard. For browsing, office work and study, the M2 still feels very quick.
Memory
This is the biggest difference. 8GB on the M2 is fine for light use, but 16GB on the M4 makes multitasking, Lightroom and multiple browser tabs far smoother — and it future-proofs the laptop for years.
